Medea was a Greek play by Euripides. It was a tragic play. I’ll tell you why. It all began when Jason and the Argonauts came to get the golden fleece from this king. The king said that he could have it, but only if he did three nearly impossible tasks. The daughter of the king, Medea, tells Jason that she will help him with these tasks, but only if he takes her with him on his voyage back home. Jason agrees. With Medea’s help, Jason eventually gains the golden fleece and travels back home with Medea. When Jason eventually becomes king he grows tired of Medea and marries another. Medea is greatly enraged at this and tries to get revenge by killing Jason’s new family. Because of this she is banished. This is a very tragic play by Euripides.
